The song was first introduced as an instrumental theme in the 1970 film Love Story after the film's distributor, Paramount Pictures, rejected the first set of lyrics that were written. Andy Williams then recorded the new lyrics of the song and the song made it on the top!
The popular song had already been sung by a lot of great artists in the industry! In fact, Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano even sang it as a theme song of the
2011 Filipino romantic drama film directed by Olivia Lamasan and starring Aga Muhlach, Angel Locsin, and Jake Cuenca entitled "In the Name of Love".
