Can you still remember the days when the television was taken over by the youth-oriented shows? The millennials may not know what we're talking about, but trust me when I say that those youth-oriented shoes back then were the highlight of our childhood!
During the 1990s, youngsters who used to wear polka-dot outfits were popular and men who used to wear loose shirts and pants were the most attractive.
Enough with the back story and let's take a trip down the memory lane and check out the best #SquadGoals we've witnessed:
1. T.G.I.S. Barkada
This show included the love triangle of Peachy (Angelu de Leon), Wacks (Bobby Andrews), and JM (Onemig Bondoc), the away-bati relationship of "Superman" Mickey (Michael Flores) and the smart girl Cris (Raven Villanueva), and the "para-paraang" businesses of Kiko (Red Sternberg). This was aired back in 1995.
The second season of T.G.I.S. included Anne Curtis, Sunshine Dizon, and Dino Guevarra.
T.G.I.S. then continued to build more stars in the 90s wherein Anne and Chub headlined the third batch of teens that included Vanna Garcia, Ivan Gonzalez, Aiza Marquez, and JR Trinidad.
2. The Gimik Barkada
ABS-CBN came up with their own teen-oriented show called Gimik starring Judy Ann Santos, Rico Yan, Diether Ocampo, Mylene Dizon, G. Toengi, Jolina Magdangal, and Marvin Agustin.
The G-Mik barkada also featured the teen boy band JCS of John Prats, Carlo Aquino, and Stefano Mori. Their lead stars were Camille Prats, Angelica Panganiban, and Heart Evangelista.
3. Tabing Ilog
This is some sort of a Philippine version of Dawson's Creek since they are hanging out near the river. The Sunday youth-oriented series featured the love teams of John Lloyd Cruz-Kaye Abad, Paula Peralejo-Patrick Garcia, Desiree Del Valle-Paolo Contis, and Jodi Sta. Maria-Baron Geisler.
