Meet The Celebrities Who Use Their Influence For A Greater Cause

On March 8, the world celebrated the International Women's Day. In celebration of the women's day, people from all over the world honored the empowered women who continue to break the norms. 

As we celebrate the International Women's month, let us all pay a tribute to these celebrities who used their fame for a greater cause. 

ANNE CURTIS

- She has been a UNICEF celebrity advocate since 2014. It was in August 2017 when she launched the Dream Machine, allowing people to send in their dreams for her to be able to reach out to those people whom she can make their dreams come to reality. 

Since then, Anne had been using her fame and her voice to speak up and help the less fortunate.

ANGEL LOCSIN

- She was recently placed under fire after she had an argument with Robin Padilla on PGT. This was after she stood up against women objectification on National TV. 

Later on she explained: "Kailangan mong turuan ng awareness yung mga kababaihan…

"Kaya nga, 'di ba, may mga pinapasarang mga bar yung Gabriela, ganyan, kasi akala nila ito yung way, ito yung way para makakuha ng pera, para sumikat."

For years, Angel Locsin has been working with the women's group Gabriela in promoting women's and children's rights. Apart from that, she also served as a Philippine Red Cross ambassador. 

IZA CALZADO

- She's the celebrity who had been very vocal about her body. She had been telling people to love their bodies regardless of their shape, race, color, and size.

Apart from that, Iza also launched 'The Body Love Revolution' that aims to celebrate women in all shapes and sizes.

HEART EVANGELISTA

- She's known for being a pet lover. In fact, it was her who started the advocacy 'adopt, don't shop'.  Apart from that, for over a decade now, she has been raising awareness on Thalassemia which is a disorder that targets children.

The 33-year-old Kapuso artist also helps the Corridor of Hope Foundation which is a support group for cancer patients. 

KARYLLE YUZON

- She has a long relationship with the Child Haus Manila that supports cancer patients who are undergoing treatments in government hospitals. 

For years, she had been spending special occasion in Child Haus Manila.

BIANCA GONZALEZ-INTAL

- She has always used her voice to empower the youth, push for education, and in other important aspects of life. Also, she's known for promoting love for one's skin color.

 KATHRYN BERNARDO

- In 2016 she became the ambassador of Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation (NCF), a non-profit organization dedicated to sponsoring comprehensive cleft and craniofacial treatment for less-fortunate Filipinos.

She also sponsored cleft palate surgeries that include enabling the patients to live a normal life afterward. 

Kathryn is also a member and a supporter of Cara Welfare Philippines that calls for the proper treatment of pets.

Just last year, Kathryn and Daniel became the ambassadors of Cybersmile Foundation that aims to fight against Cyberbullying.

KC CONCEPCION

- She has been the United Nations World Food Programme Ambassador Against Hunger since 2008.

She's been traveling to Cotabato and Uganda to help send reliefs to the victims of Yolanda and the 2015 earthquake that hit Nepal.

CARLA ABELLANA

- She remains vocal in supporting the causes of animals. She has been using her social media accounts to call out on the wrongdoings of most pet owners that gravely affect the lives of their pets.

MARIAN RIVERA

- She became a Smile Train Ambassadress in 2014 and has been continuously promoting awareness about the free cleft lip and palate repair surgery to provide children a normal life.

JASMINE CURTIS-SMITH

- She's a youth ambassador of the World Vision Philippines. 

She told the Cebuanos in November 2013, "When you sponsor a child, you are giving that kid a chance to have a brighter future—not just the kid but her family and their community. And it only takes 20 pesos a day to change a child's life."
