In 2017, Empoy Marquez had his first ever big break in showbiz after he top-billed the film "Kita Kita" together with Alessandra de Rossi. The film that was set in Sapporo, Japan follows the story of Lea (Alessandra de Rossi) a Filipino tourist guide who lives in Japan and went blind after she witnessed how her Japanese fiance cheated on her. It was then when her fellow Pinoy Tonyo (Empoy Marquez) who inspired Lea to continue living her life and eventually, they fall for one another.

Not so surprisingly, the film earned a total of ?300 million on its third week, making it the highest-grossing Philippine Independent film.
But then, that's not all! After the success of Kita Kita, Empoy Marquez landed on another project but this time, it's on television and still, he worked with Alessandra de Rossi together with Piolo Pascual, Arci Munoz, and JC De Vera.
After the teleserye "Since I Found You" concluded, Empoy Marquez was cornered by the press and was asked about the actresses whom he wishes to work with in the future. Without hesitation, Empoy Marquez gladly named the most beautiful and definitely the most admired stars in showbiz.
He said, "Lahat naman po gusto kong makatrabaho. Si Maja, Angel Locsin, Bea Alonzo, Angelica Panganiban."
