Angel Locsin has recently become the center of talks online after she pressed the red buzzer on PGT a few moments after the scantily clad women started performing in front of the judges.
After their performance, Angel Locsin clearly explained why she said no and why she had to press the red buzzer.
“Ako kasi parang hindi ko kaya na makita kayo na nagsasayaw na naka-underwear para lang sa ’min. Masyado kayo magaganda at masyado niyo ’tong pinaghirapan para gawin ’yan,” she said. (I can’t watch you dance in your underwear just for us. You are too beautiful and have worked too hard to do that.)
“Kung may talent kayo, ’yun ang ipakita niyo sa ’min dahil talent ang hinahanap namin dito, hindi katawan. Kaya ko kayo binuzz, ayaw kong ma-objectify kayo. Masyado ako nagmamalasakit para sa inyo para i-go ko ’to at patuloy kayong panoorin ng mga kalalakihan na ginagawa iyan.”
Her statements somehow created a clash between her and her co-judge Robin Padilla who somehow enjoyed their performance.
At the end of the performance and the judging, Angel Locsin shed tears. Despite that she was disappointed by what she had witnessed, Angel Locsin still gained praises from the netizens especially those who agreed with her statements.
Angel Locsin received tons of praises online who commended her for standing up against women objectification. In fact, even the GABRIELA commended her for doing the right thing.
