Open Letter To Angel Locsin Written By A Netizen Goes Viral Online

We can still recall that Angel Locsin was recently under fire after she said no to the group of scantily clad ladies who performed in Pilipinas Got Talent Season 6. According to Angel Locsin, she couldn't handle seeing them perform in their bikinis for them. She claims that they are too pretty to do such thing. 

“Ako kasi parang hindi ko kaya na makita kayo na nagsasayaw na naka-underwear para lang sa ’min. Masyado kayo magaganda at masyado niyo ’tong pinaghirapan para gawin ’yan,” she said. (I can’t watch you dance in your underwear just for us. You are too beautiful and have worked too hard to do that.)

“Kung may talent kayo, ’yun ang ipakita niyo sa ’min dahil talent ang hinahanap namin dito, hindi katawan. Kaya ko kayo binuzz, ayaw kong ma-objectify kayo. Masyado ako nagmamalasakit para sa inyo para i-go ko ’to at patuloy kayong panoorin ng mga kalalakihan na ginagawa iyan," she said

However, the girls who performed took it negatively and chose to fire back on Angel through their social media accounts.

And for that, a netizen decided to write an open letter to praise Angel Locsin for standing up for women's rights.

"I have always admired you not only as a celebrity but as a person. You have always possessed genuine qualities that can rarely be seen amongst your counterparts." This was how the open letter started.

He then continued and said, "I have always admired the fact that you don't limit your capacity as a celebrity in the limelight. You have always maximized your potential to effect change through other means as evidenced by your advocacy to promote women's rights with Gabriela, blood letting activities with Red Cross, relief operations for Yolanda, and going to Marawi during the siege."

It was then when the writer of the open letter decided to talk about what had happened in PGT.  

He divided it into three parts. First, he pointed out that the girls joined a competition where there are judges who they should expect to judge their performance. For some, their performance might be entertaining but for Angel Locisn who's a women's rights advocate, she showed too much concern for the ladies. 

Second, carwashing may be considered as a skill but never a talent. And lastly, he believes that women truly have the right to wear what they want to wear but they should wear it with the right intentions.

At the end of his post, he revealed that after what had happened, he admired Angel Locsin more.

"After this incident, I have admired you more than ever. Other celebrities would have let it pass but you didn't. You called out something that you think is wrong and that is the kind of celebrities that we need during these trying times."
